How does an Amt work?

On an AMT, there is no more clutch pedal and the gear shift lever is replaced by program selection lever. The actuation of the clutch and gears is done with electrohydraulic of electric actuators, controlled through electronic signals coming from an electronic control module.

What is the difference between AMT & at?

The clutch and gear assemblies have electrohydraulic or electric actuators controlled by electronic control modules (ECM). The difference between an AMT and AT is at the hardware level.
